Maithry celebrated Christmas and New Years on January 10, 2009 at the Kings
Academy in Sunnyvale. The program started with an excellent feast
provided by Sitara Indian Cuisine.
There were plenty of food for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians.
Maithry volunteers served to fellow Maithrians. The large lunch hall at
the Kings Academy had lots of tables and chairs and the hall was setup
very very nicely. Everyone got to eat together and socialize.
Lunch was followed by the cultural program where Maithrians sang and danced.
The highlight of the program was "Milai - Weddings of India", put
together by Sujaya and Shyam. It involved over a 100 people and we all
had fun watching the show. It was great to see what happens when a
hundred Maithry members get together to put on a wonderful show! The
comedy skit, the dances by all children and the songs captivated the
audience. During the last two stage programs the Maithry children went
on stage and turned it into a dance party to ring in the new year.
After the cultural program, everyone assembled back at the cafeteria for hot
tea and parippu-vada. It was great to relax, socialize, network, and
catch up with fellow Maithry members. The tea and vada, provided to us
by Tiffin @ Coconut Hill (Kerala Cuisine)
were excellent as well. There were plenty of vada-s and tea to go
around! The organizing committee, along with all Maithry members thank
our generous sponsors for all their support!
